Lorenzo Parola

Lorenzo Parola is the Founding and Managing Partner of Parola Associati – Società tra Avvocati a r.l. He is admitted to the Italian Supreme Court (Corte di Cassazione) and is also a Solicitor of England and Wales. He is widely recognised among Italy’s leading lawyers in the energy transition and energy technology space, having advised on some of the most complex and “first-of-a-kind” transactions in the sector.

He assists infrastructure funds, utilities and oil majors on domestic and cross-border M&A and strategic projects in renewables, power, oil & gas, energy transition and the circular economy. He has a substantial track record on permitting, contractual and regulatory matters relating to the development of energy infrastructure, including renewables and CCGT plants, interconnectors, LNG regasification terminals, gas storage facilities and biomethane plants.

He is particularly known for his expertise in highly specialised industry contracts, including PPAs, tolling arrangements, take-or-pay gas sale agreements and LNG SPAs, pipeline transportation agreements, EPC and energy efficiency contracts, as well as physical and financial energy trading (including CO₂), and emerging areas such as blockchain and smart contracts. He is regularly instructed as counsel or arbitrator in domestic and international arbitrations, notably in relation to gas sale agreements and construction disputes.

Lorenzo is an Adjunct Faculty Member at Luiss Business School and a Visiting Professor in several postgraduate and executive programmes, including Bocconi University’s LLM in Law of Internet Technology, the Politecnico di Milano School of Management’s Master in Energy Management (MEM), and the University of Siena’s advanced course in the Regulation of Energy and Environmental Services. He previously served as a Board member and Chairman of the Sustainable Value Creation Committee of Italgas S.p.A., one of Europe’s leading distribution system operators. He is also committed to pro bono initiatives focused on legality education and combating cyberbullying in secondary schools.
