Senior Academic Advisor, European Convention on Human Rights and Applications before the European Court of Human Rights
Full Professor of International Law at the Department of Law of the University of Bari “Aldo Moro” (UniBa).
A lawyer since 1999 and a journalist since 1992, she has been a regular contributor to Il Sole 24 Ore and, since 2012, has run a blog dedicated to International Law and European Union Law.
She is currently Co-Principal Investigator (Co-PI) of the University of Bari’s unit in the European Horizon 2021–2027 project “PRESERVE,” focused on privacy protection and ethics in the use of Big Data for criminal investigations. She was also a member of the scientific team of the European BEAMS program (Breaking Down European Attitudes towards Migrant/Minority Stereotypes), funded by the European Commission (2013–2014).
Since 2022, she has served as a consultant to the Italian National Council of Notaries on Private International Law and European Union Law, working with the Commission for European and International Affairs.
She has extensive experience as a lecturer and speaker in academic and institutional settings, having taught courses and delivered advanced training in:
International Law and International Criminal Justice within the United Nations LL.M. in International Crime and Justice (UNICRI);
International Humanitarian Law for the course “Legal Advisers to the Armed Forces” at the Center for Higher Defense Studies – Joint Services Staff College;
International and European Criminal Law in the course on “Cyber Crimes and Digital Investigation” at the International School for the Prevention and Fight against Organized Crime;
International Asylum Law in the Advanced Training Course for Territorial Commissions for the recognition of international protection.
Thanks to her expertise, she combines academic research with a practical and interdisciplinary approach, contributing to the analysis and development of innovative legal strategies in the European and international context.
