Senior Advisor, Cybersecurity and International Relations
Giorgio Scichilone is Full Professor of History of Political Institutions in the Department of Political Science and International Relations (DEMS) at the University of Palermo.
By appointment of trust from the Rector of Palermo, he serves as President of the University Territorial Center of Trapani. An expert on Machiavellian political theories and raison d’état, he focuses on totalitarianism, constitutionalism, and the risks of freedom and rights in the global era, developing connections between security and democracy.
Director of the “History and Politics Summer School” (UniPa), he coordinates the master’s program in “Analyst of International Policies on Defense and Security” (UniPa). He is also PI of the project “Assessing Cyber Security Maturity in National and Legal Frameworks: A Multidisciplinary Approach to Protecting National Critical Infrastructures in Italy and Europe – ACySeM,” spoke University of Bologna, Serics partnership.
As part of the ACySeM project, the university laboratory “Cydes Sentia Lab” was established, of which he is director, promoting research on issues related to defense and security in the Mediterranean in collaboration with universities and research centers and in partnership with national and international institutions, local authorities, enterprises, and companies.
He is a member of the Scientific Committee of the Center for Advanced Studies on Artificial Intelligence (CSAIA), where he directs the Observatory on Cybersecurity, Political Science, and International Relations.
